O Devayani,
you have tried to make beautiful
things
for the
pleasure and delectation
of men
and of women
But for the
most part they don't see them,
they don't care.
And once you
have made them
you, too, are impatient
with having
things,
anything at all
around.
Nonetheless, you observe,
that most men,
most women, prefer
the disposable junk of the
outlet store
or the museum,
convinced
-- brainwashed
by
our peculiar times --
into believing that ugly
means "the
truth."
It's a point of view,
Devayani,
strange,
but
true.
